Hey guys!
Since I’m going to be a freshman high school next school year I decided to make a set on how to make friends at a new school.
I hope you guys would like it and best of luck ;)
Making Friends @ a New School:
1. Be kind to whoever you meet at your new school
Make sure to be nice to people of all cultures and backgrounds. And also, remember to be as kind and as helpful as possible!
2. Don’t be nervous
You shouldn't be nervous; you're going to a new school, not to a kidnapper’s house or a haunted house. Take a deep breath and always put in mind that in your new school you will find kids your age and you're going to meet people that I bet who will like you.
3. Never change who you are to try and fit in
Be yourself. If your friends don't accept you for you, they're not really true friends. And most students belong with a certain clique simply because they are being themselves and their unique personalities. Don't try too hard.
4. SMILE
A smile goes a long way. When you walk in the halls, don't cover or hide your face. Stick your chin up and make eye contact with other people. Give a smile or say hi!
5. Remember their names
People like it when you call them by name. Ask them gently if they have a nickname, you'd be surprised where this can come in handy.
6. Hunt for students who are new to the school
You'll have one thing in common: you're both in an unfamiliar environment. The good news is if you are starting at a new school in start up year, almost everyone is new! Since being new is something that you all have in common, making new friends shouldn't be that hard. Talk about your old school, your new school, your opinions, grades, teachers, etc.
7. Don't sit at the back of the class
Try to sit in the middle where you're around everyone and can make conversation.
8. Get to know your new friends
Meet up with them outside of school, this is an important step to making TRUE friends who you can rely on.
9. Join a club or sport is a great way to make new friends
Choir or theater or hang around for a volleyball practice. Even if you don't know anyone there, you'll all share a common interest, and you can experience with different personalities from yours that have the same interest!
10. Don't show-off a lot
Some people don't like boasters, so be a normal kid, and then when you get a friend you can tell about your interests! Though, if you happen to be an intelligent person who naturally participates in class, don't hinder yourself merely for the sake of others. Likewise, if you have talents in other areas, such as music or dancing, by no means should you hold yourself back. But you must be careful; otherwise people will assume you are conceited.
So pretty much that’s all of it …. I hope this tip would help you make friends at your new school, and if ever you have any suggestion don’t hesitate to comment :) Have a nice day!
